Frequently Asked Questions
What is Green GiveBack?
Green GiveBack helps charities receive free, usable products donated by brands and media owners. We match surplus stock to registered charities where it can create real impact, with no cost to the charity.
Who can register on Green GiveBack?
Any registered South African charity, NPO, or NGO may apply to register.
All charities are reviewed before being approved onto the platform to ensure legitimacy and proper governance.
Does it cost anything to register or receive donations?
No. Registration is free, and all products received through Green GiveBack are donated at no cost.
How does the donation matching work?
When products become available, we review them and identify charities where they will have the greatest practical impact.
If we believe a donation is a good fit for your organisation, we will contact you directly to ask if you would like to receive the products.
Who handles delivery of donated products?
Products are delivered directly to the charity, usually by Green GiveBack or the donating brand. Green GiveBack coordinates the process and ensures clear communication throughout.
Does the charity need to issue a Section 18A certificate?
Some charities on Green GiveBack are SARS-approved Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs) and may be able to issue Section 18A certificates, depending on their approval status and the nature of the donation.
Section 18A eligibility is not required to participate on Green GiveBack, but where it is relevant, we ensure it is confirmed upfront and handled correctly.
How often will we receive donations?
There is no fixed schedule. Donations depend on product availability and suitability. Some charities may receive donations more frequently than others, depending on their needs and alignment with available products.
What types of products are donated?
Products vary, but typically include new, usable consumer goods such as:
- Food and household items
- Personal care products
- Clothing or footwear
- Other essential goods
